Roses

A scooter can carry a family of four or five with ease. Notice that only the driver has a helmet because the law only requires a helmet if you are driving.

This scooter carrying a huge pile of bundled roses passed us on the road. I got out of the auto- rickshaw when we stopped at a light so I could get a clear view and snapped this picture. Scooters are popular both because they have a place to carry a load if you straddle the seat and because a woman can drive one wearing a sari.

Mostly, though, you see women in saris sitting side-saddle on the back of either scooters or motorcycles.
